Krohnkite
Chuquicamata Mine, El Loa Province, Antofagasta, Chile
1.5 x 0.8 x 0.6 cm — thumbnail
Specimen ID: mm/P508
Specimen of vivid blue, translucent Krohnkite from Chile. Krohnkite is a rare sulfate and this specimen is from the Type locality for the species. For shear color, it's hard to match the the crazy neon blue of this mineral (maybe Paraiba Tourmaline?). This is a solid specimen of Krohnkite without matrix, with some crystals grown out of the mass. Beautiful old time specimen!!!
